Maybe I suck at driving since this is my first car but if I'm at a stop and floor it it hangs for like what seems to be 3 seconds or so before shifting into second while sitting in the extremely high RPM range in which the engine makes a high pitch noise like it would if you were to floor it in neutral. I've also tried letting off of the gas slightly and all together when it reaches that point and it still doesn't seem to shift any quicker. Through normal driving in lower rpm's it's not noticeable.

So you're saying that your transmission tends to "hang" while shifting at WOT? If that's the case, then it may be bleeding off essential line pressure while attempting to engage the components necessary to perform the shift itself (read: bad news).

That said, I have three quick questions for you:

1. How many miles are on the tranny?
2. What is the color/condition of the tranny fluid?
3. Have you pulled your codes to check for potential problems in other areas?
