Hello, I recently have gotten some unrotted window seals for my car, you know, the ones with the rail that go all the way around the top and sides. Well, I replaced the rear ones without having to remove the window glass(thanks god!), and I was wondering if there was a way to do the same in the front, as there is a metal bracket on my replacement fronts....I like the rear ones, as its the first time I've looked back there and didn't see bubbled black/white stuff....

Anyways, just looking for info. Also, the rear ones will fight you for a bit, but they are possible to do with only removing the outside and inside horizontal seals, with the window rolled down, then pry the crappy looking one out, reinstall the good one, and reinstall the horizontal seals....then guess what??? Your car won't leak anymore water through the doors to rust things...

Recalling this from memory, . . . . :oogle:

. . . . so take your time so you don't break anything.

  • roll down the window

  • remove small plastic trim from front inside of window

  • remove black acorn-nut from door jam, immediately below rear aft corner of the window glass

  • lift the outside felt weatherstrip by lifting the aft-end up, and pulling the weatherstrip up and aftward

  • remove the retaining screw from the door glass top run

  • remove door glass top run

Take your time installing the window glass run. If you bend it, it will likely leak.

  • install the top run starting in the top rear corner, pressing in upward, then aft into the corner of the B-pillar

  • continue pressing the top run aft, until it is seated along the entire B-pillar, then start in the aft-upper corner and work forward toward the A-pillar

  • reassembly previously removed parts, in reverese order

Hmmm, I'm lost.....lol

if its a bad omen, both of the doors we got the weatherstripping out of, the windows were broke in removal....even though we took time and were patient....

The broken windows shouldn't hurt the window glass runs. It's during the removal and installation that they can be bent, which in turn will result in leaking after installed.

If you're not familiar with some of the nomenclature, just ask.

You broke both windows on the salvage yard SHO?
