I think I have narrowed my problem down to the starter solenoid. I have a '92 and I called to see if I could get a new solenoid. There was no listing for a '92 solenoid. However, my friend at the parts store said there was a listing for a '93-'95 solenoid.

I thought the 89-91 was different and the '92-'95 was the same gear reduction style starter.

Anyone know the answer? I would much rather spend $40 than $130 to get this resolved.

Any input is greatly appreciated,

Mike

The solenoid relay is seperate from the starter. The actual solenoid is part of the starter. If you go to www.ford-oulet.com
they have it for 15 bucks.

For 93MTX, starter/solenoid is one unit - can't get them as separate items. Make sure replacement starter has same # teeth as old starter.

Well, at my autoparts store the '93 MTX starter and solenoid ARE seperately purchasable. The '92 starter and solenoid are not, however. Really I just want to change the solenoid.....however I probably should change the whole deal.
