You could use almost any kind of automotive paint on plastic as long as you prep the surface first, as far as the rubber I would TRY a dye, SEM color coat works pretty well on leather, never used it on rubber though.... good luck

There is no rubber in the interior that I am aware of, it's either vinyl or plastic.

SEM Color Coat spray paint is definitely the way to go for plastic and vinyl. It works pretty good on carpet and velour, too. SEM also has a spray product that prepares the surface for the paint. You spray it on and wipe it off, it evaporates quickly, cleans all the oil, grease, grime, wax, etc. off the surface. You can find SEM at most professional paint stores.

On leather, I would use a product made especially for that, although I wouldn't hesitate to use the SEM paint to "color patch" small areas of repair if I had to.

I have used Colorbond once or twice with some success on plastic and vinyl. It comes in a spray can and is around $10. The SEM stuff might be ok on plastic, but I would use something better on leather.

SEM is professional vinyl dye. AFAIK you can only get it at auto paint stores and some online automotive stores (www.eastwoodco.com sells it). I have used it on plastic, hard vinyl, soft vinyl, and leather (99% of leather in cars is painted anyway) with great results. It costs a little more but you do get what you pay for.

would you use this to change the entire colour of an interior?

I really want black, but finding black parts is though enough, and there aren't many GOOD black parts available in canada...

I would not have a problem using it on any trim panels, dash, console, or door panels hard plastic or soft. I don't know how well it would hold up on seats though, with proper prep work I imagine It would be OK. It says that you can even use it on carpet...

I was planning on taking a set of Gen1 Seats and buying the Catzkins kit for them. I could also use some new carpet, so I'd look into that as well.

Thanks. I might be in touch. Most of my mocha parts are in excellent shape, so it'd be a shame just to pitch them when I can simple paint/dye them the colour I want.
