Interior Dye or paint

I know this has been discussed before. But my center console needs to be redone. It has some scratches and faded. The console seems to have softened and the surface seems tacky. What do you recommend to fix this. The interior is gray. Need recommendations on products

If it seems tacky then it was probably painted in the past and either improperly prepped or incorrect products were used.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the gray color of SEM for seats or plastic, but it's between two colors of SEM gray, favoring one a bit. The difference is dashboard to airbag cover.

One awesome NAPA store here used to carry the full line, but now they carry none, I'd guess partially because their display shelf was covered with "test sprays".

Yeah I've been looking. My main concern is the center console piece

You can give the plastic a wipe down with 99% isopropyl alcohol (pharmacy) or 95% ethanol (Everclear, liquor store) and see if that dries up the tackiness.

Don't use acetone (nail polish remover) unless you want to remove any paint and melt the plastic.

If it's already far gone, you can see how 0000 steel wool does to refinish it.

Go to an O'Reillys and ask to see their SEM book. It has color charts in it. Pick the one that matches the best.

I pulled the top of the center console, coated it in brake fluid, and wrapped it in plastic to dissolve the soft touch coating. Underneath is plastic molded in the right color.

SEM Presidio 15163 is the closest match I found for gray right out of the can.
