if you want to simplify the search for bulbs for the overhead lights, just wire in a socket that takes the 194 bulbs. Thats what i did.

TheKrazyRaven:
the overhead ones are the cylinder shaped ones w/ contact points on each end

no idea whats the size code is though
Didn't say if he had a moonroof or not so I can't be sure, since I don't have one.

The overhead (dome) one is a blade style, just bigger than a 194 but a 194 works in just about all lamp locations where a small blade style is required. AAMOF, I have a 194 under the hood right now. I re-did all my interior lights to blue LEDs.

2x Kickpanel - 194
2x Door-edge - 194
1x Dome - 194
2x Map lights (I used white LEDs) - 194
1x Ash tray (left it white as well)
1x Gear selector light on console - 194

Later!

You should be able to pull back on it, and pop it off the clips. My roommate has a Gen I with Moonroof, and that's all he has to do. Only problem is, his is hanging now cause we can't get it back on the clips.

To take the console off (or change bulbs) you need to take the switch/lens covers off first. You can simply change the bulbs after this without taking the whole console out. If you want to take the console out, there are 2 screws that hold it in (remove these after taking the covers off)

To take the covers off depress the switches, and hold them in. Take a small thin flatblade screwdriver in the center, and pry that side of the covers/lenses off. Gently, they should pop right out. FWIW they take a 912 bulb, not 194 (although they'll fit) The 912's are probably a little brighter. May be a different story with LED's though....

Out of curiosity, what type of LEDs are you guys using to replace the bulbs with, and where can you find them? I've thought about using LEDs before, but never looked into it further.

Thanks!

Not trying to jump in on your post, but if you buy a different colored #37 bulb, that still wont change the color of the backlight, right? How would I go about changing that? I have a Green 92, but put the guages in, and will be doing the 194 floor bulbs as well.
