Yes, it will run without the balance tube. The inlets on the primaries and secondaries inside the side plenums do not point toward the throttle body. They are neutral. The air from the throttle body can be fed in either end of the side plenums. Some people have taken off the crossover tube and attached a throttle body on the end of each side plenum. The intake horns of the secondaries are pointed straight at the flat part of the side plenums, not left or right. Do not remove those horns, they aid in the smooth flow of high speed air above 3950 rpm's.

Man, If only I had the patience to polish my intake. Those look awesome. As far as removing the horns. I removed mine for my BBB. Were you talking about a not removing them on a stock intake? Would a "custom" set of horns for BBB help with airflow? ......just kinda thinking out loud.

I wouldn't remove any air horns, FI or NA. They help by keeping the air from "burbling" around sharp corners. Burbling air is air that has varying densities and directions. The horns also add to the length of the individual runner which helps fill the cylinder with air when the intake valve opens.

There is a reason to remove the horns with BBB's. The inside diameter of the horns is smaller than the inside diameter of the BBB's. Therefore, the horns will impose a restriction before entering the BBB;s.

we have been over the horn thing a hundred time. I though it was proven that on the dyno there is no change with or without.

this is an incomplete explanation of the situation, it only applies if you gut the secondaries of their butterflies and shafts.

if you RETAIN the butterflies, you must subtract the space they take up from the area calculations of the BBB's, in which case the horns will still have more open area then the BBB's

in fact, you should probably add 10% to the shaft area calculations before you deduct it from overall BBB area, as they are more of a restriction then they look like. air will not flow smoothly around them, decreasing the effective space
