Info on K&N filter set up needed

What do you all recomend for a cold air intake, 1998 SHO ?

K&N appears to be the way to go, but they don't have anything listed for the car. Calling their tech support was a joke. They have no clue.

Anyone out there running a outside air intake by way of K&N ? Could certainly use your advice, maybe even a part number of the kit.

Isn't all the info listed on V8sho.com?

I'd skip the cold air intake and go with a drop in filter. It'll be faster like that but won't sound as good.

What I did was pulled off the bottom half of the saxophone, removed the silencer and threw in a K&N panel filter. Not much of a performance difference but it sounds good. It's kind of like a CAI I guess.

I don't think K&N ever considered an intake kit for the SHOs, and by the way it looks they never will. Take a look at Ebay, as there are some listed on there that are similar to the Sho Shop's of yester-years. They open up the breathing and they make a noticable sound increase that sounds cool after the secondaries open up.

K&N Drop in Filter, Removed Saxacone, 3" 45 degree PVC pipe with rubber clamp. Works great, sounds pretty good too

I have a K&N filter e0940 screwed directly onto the MAF. It's the filter for the some year mustangs. It's on v8sho

The "porterized" set up is the best bet short of running a tube into the fender wall with a cone filter on it. The problem with a filter attached directly to the MAF is it takes away the stock CAI and turns the intake into a HAI or WAI. Even with the "shield" it is not sealed off from the engine compartment.

The "porterized" set up is cheap and functional, and you still get that nice sound from the intake.

Yea, the only thing the filter on the MAF does it gives it a cool sound. Eventaully when my POS gets running agian I will make some sort of intake for it.

Here is my set-up

4" cone filter into 4" mandrel bent pipe to a 4" MAF filter adapter. Made it in the garage. I have not had it tuned yet or to a dyno so I can't claim any gains but IAT's droped quite a bit compared to the stock air box and it sounds evil as ****
