Mine is always on these days. It'll go off if I jiggle the parking brake pedal so I assume it's the switch (yes, fluid level is fine). What's the R&R for the switch? Do I replace it or clean it? I haven't even looked at it.

I popped the cap this evening and it still didn't come on. It lights up when I start the car... I'll check the switch for continuity tomorrow while fiddling around...

I pulled the wire from the switch and just touched it to the bracket and it lit up. I guess it was just too much fun for one weekend for it! At least I know what the root cause is now and won't worry too much about it til I can get around to replacing it.

Ian - yours is a bit of a different problem. I consider it the early warning that your parking brake is not releasing properly/fully. The spring in the caliper parking brake arms is actually what pulls the pedal back up. Could be a corroded cable, caliper sticking, other things... It is possible that you just need to adjust it, but my experience has been that it is an early warning. At least keep an eye on it. At best find the problem and fix it, especially if you use your p-brake a lot.

I am currently w/o p-brake due to sticking/seizing. Haven't had time to find the culprit yet. This is the second time in 14 yrs it has done this, so i have seen it before.

I guess i'll revive this thread, my in dash parking break light wont come on, I just realized it after I finished installing my new Deck into the car,...no I didn't disconnect the battery even though I should have. I already had everything wired up, all I had to do was plug in the harness.

Any ideas? When I turn the key over and the dash lights up with all the lights, the parking break light still doesn't come on. ever.

You may have a loose wire or short. Road bumps or "wiggling" the wires while working on something else may have temporarily fixed it. Given some of the semi-sharp edges of the mounting brackets for the dash, moving and pulling-on harnesses can result in cutting through the wire insulation, or pulling a a wire loose from a terminal.

I noticed you have a number of other threads on electrical related issues. You might want to combine them into one thread, in case any of the problems are related.

its funny my light worked once just like 3 days ago when i put the parking brake on. it scarred the shiat outa me almost, i just saw a bright red light on out of the corner of my eye...not used to that light coming on at all. it just hasnt been a big issue... i check my fluids regularly under hood, and would notice in the pedal if a brake line let go... all mine have been replaced anyway.

still thinking of playing with this switch though...just waiting for nice weather now...then my back will enjoy that door sill

lol thats just great... just keep an eye on your fluid levels and the condition of your brakes and brake lines more often i guess.
