trying to figure out if my imrc is working properly. I took the cover off the imrc box and all gears look good, if you turn the gears by hand, they will make a few revolutions and then the motor gear will lock up, is this suppose to happen?? I put the cover back on and ran the car at 3600 rpm and watched the cable to the butterflies, but the cable was not pulling the butterflies to open, can anyone tell me what the problem may be here??? How much of a project is it to wire the butterflies open?? This may be my next project if I dont have to spend 4 hours on it. Thanks guys

Your cable is probably broke somewhere in the line.

Wiring open your secondaries is easy. Just take the throttle body off (the whole 90 degree part not just the TB) and you have enough room to stick some zip ties in there and "wire" them open. This works good but you will get buildup on the butterflies. A lot people, including myself, actually take the lower intake manifold and completely remove them.

I wired mine open and the car now idles super rough when cold. Still trying to fix this. Is this a direct result of the wiring open, or is it yet another new issue?

did you by chance reset your computer after wiring them open? that tends to make a lil difference.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think wiring them open causes a lean condition but without a tune it is unable to correct it. It shouldn't cause too much of a rough idle though.. (barely noticeable).

I have run mine wired open for half a dozen years and never had any rough idle at start up, or any other time, for that matter, and I live in Canada.
