I have a 95 atx 3.2 with idle issues. When the car is cold it idles good. As soon it warms up a bit it starts acting like it wants to stall. I also have a strong gas smell when I take off when it is warm.

I pulled the codes and this is what I got:

KOEO

551 - Problem in Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) solenoid/Circuit- solenoid

558 - EGR Vacuum regulator solenoid/circuit failure - EVR PFE or Solenoid

Memory

157 - MAF is low or grounded-MAF

171/172 - Oxygen Sensors (will be replacing tomorrow)

181 - Fuel system was lean @ part throttle - oxygen sensor

332 - EGR

KOER

172 - Oxygen Sensor

332 - EGR

So my question is where should I start? And if I need to replace the IMRC, where can I find one?

Thanks,
Cecilia

You MAF is/was unplugged/dirty. Most likely dirty. Get some MAF or Electronics cleaner (small red bottle from AAP) and clean the sensor wire inside of it. Do not use brake cleaner/carb cleaner/engine degreaser.

Your EGR is shot, which does not affect idle. Few people care about the EGR; it's just there for emissions.

Sounds like your main problem is your O2 Sensors. They look like they're absolutely shot, and it's good that you're replacing them; I think this will fix most of your problems.

IMRC is simply the butterfly control; have you noticed your butterflies opening @ 4K RPM like they're supposed to?

If the O2s don't solve the problem, the next step will be the IAC - the Idle Air Control. This is the silverish cylinder opposide of the throttle body on the intake with a two-wire plug at the back end and a small black plastic cap on the top. These get dirty/broke and must be cleaned (every hole with carb cleaner!) or replaced.

Thanks. My mechanic is not able to do the O2 sensors until tomorrow. But I did clean the MAF and the idle is fine.
