I will eventually likely buy a new motor, but it would be with all improved internals. In the meantime I'll be doing the Livenois tune before spring. My car is stored right now.
Many years ago, I helped a friend put a V-8 in Corvair. Yep, a Corvair. He used to destroy GTO's and pretty much everything else on the street. It was just a question of which race he would have to be towed home from for transaxle failure. Plenty of parts were in the junkyard. If I keep the SHO long enough, the lift I bought six years ago will be getting a workout :)
My plans sound on par with yours...keeping the SHO for years to come. Hopefully next winter I'll be dropping a built motor in it!!! Then the weight reduction on this land yacht will begin.

Are you saying (no sarcasm, I'm buying a SHO and your tune), I can purchase one of these http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product/LPP631103 and get an under 13 run with one of the 4 tunes you guys give on that device?

I have no other mods on my car besides a drop in k&n filter for 35$ and the stage 4+ tune, and my car feels so much more responsive, and my 0-60 times dropped from around 5.2-5.4 seconds to 4.4-4.5 seconds. It's definitely worth the money! And I've had no problems with reliability...

Thanks, you'll be getting a lot of questions from me since I'm not mechanically inclined really, yet I'm willing to learn the small stuff in order to get a family muscle car. I don't have my SHO yet, but it's coming! Probably a 2010-2012

Old post here but i thought i could add...Bringing up the original op title, improve performance without jeopardizing warranty....I just got a 2013 PP with 35,500 miles. I purchased the Unleashed SCTx4 tuner. While reading all the instructions in the Quick start pamphet, I noticed in section 11 frequently asked questions: "question: Can Ford GM Chrysler tell if I flashed my vehicle when I bring it to them.?"
Answer: " the only way they can tell is if the vehicle is still married when it goes to get work done. This can void your warranty. So long as you return it to stock, they will have no idea it was flashed because SCT devices leave no footprint." I thought this was contrary to everything I have read in forums so far.

Flash your vehicle back to stock before going to the dealer with an engine complaint. To the dealer, it looks like the battery was disconnected. I disconnect my battery when I store the car.

This is not completely accurate, when flashing the car back to stock it sets a bunch of codes that cannot be read with the tuner. They are lost communication codes with a bunch of modules. Forscan can reset it with the right adapter. Or disconnect the battery for at least 30mim. That said if they suspect the car was tuned after a massive engine failure Ford has a way to dig into the PCM to see if it had been tuned in the past. The dealer however I have been told doesn't have the tools to do this. Ultimately there is a risk that you can be denied warranty coverage with any mod you do to the car. Just depends on your dealer.

It is my understanding that when there is a significant or costly issue on a vehicle under warranty, the dealer often must contact Ford for authorization of the repair. After all, it is FORD that is paying the bill. If you have a tuned car and go to your dealer for a faulty power window, I am sure it would be covered with no questions asked. However, if you have your tuned car towed to a dealer and there is a rod sticking out of the block, my guess is that there will be some investigation regardless of how "tune-friendly" the dealer is.

I have had my car tuned for many miles and I take it to the track occasionally. I have always taken the approach that if I break it most likely due to the added power, I will be on the hook to fix it. If Ford or the dealer want to warranty it, I would be thankful, but I wouldn't count on it.

It has been said many times if you want to play be ready to pay! That said, I don't think I was clear on my original post. I have heard of warranty claims denied for just having an CAI on the car. Best practice is to return the car as much as possible to stock. In the event of a major failure though it's still a coin toss if tuned.
