Well, maybe post what impound yard it went to, so that if the facility places a lien on it, and someone local to the area wants to buy it/save it from being crushed/salvaged, then they can do so.

This way it remains roadworthy, even if you can no longer afford it yourself.

I bought my first SHO from a police officer. Though he did purchase it at Auction.

Really sorry to hear that Patrick. I know there are horror stories with Police impounding and ever trying to get it back. I assume there is still a title issue?

This can happen in a number of ways, depending on the jurisdiction. The driver might have failed a breathalyzer test, been driving well over the speed limit, had outstanding tickets, been driving while prohibited or without a valid license or vehicle permit. There are likely other things as well that are not on the top of the list. But it will be something major.

Yeah, one of my buddy's horror stories was he purchased a "show" car (nissan sentra) off eBay. Had problems getting the title. During many other long drawn out stories, he got pulled over by the MP's. They were actually just interested in the car, but while he was showing it off they noted that the engine and the chassis VIN did not match. After digging further they impounded the car, and he was given a lift to work (nice guys). The end of the story he gets the car back with out the engine...

In Cali if your reg is more than 6 months overdue they can yank the car right then if it's being driven or even just parked on the street. >experience

Right, can't be parked on the "public" road. Even if in your driveway with registration that far gone the city can force one to "fix" the problem, as its considered inoperable and not allowed in residential housing.

Ah ****. Being broke is tough. I've had about every form of vehicle infraction and I can't tell you how much I wasted on attorneys and fines and fees. They don't play in VA. I feel for you dude. and don't get caught for this twice!

Good luck:cheers:

I've been dodging jail like Neo in The Matrix, from just car/driving infractions, for years. They don't play here.

A big difference from PA back when I first started driving. There just pay your fines and be on your way. Cop no shows here won't get your ticket dismissed. They just reschedule.

The important thing is you got the car back, and for not a lot of money, so well done on that point.

There are lots of stories of the impound fees spiraling upwards to quickly making it impossible to reclaim, so you dodged a bullet with your quick action.

Good luck on your future plans.
