I'm stumped

Dunno if I should post this hear or the help section. I'm really just looking for some ideas/feedback.

I just installed new street pads and rotors on my track car with Wilwood BSL 6 calipers. I took the car out for a drive and did a couple of hard stops from 30-35 and then went a little faster, after the second I got a hard grinding from the passenger wheel. I thought I forgot to torque the wheels so I checked them. Still had a noise after that. Take everything apart, and it looks normal, put it back. Same thing, drove it around in a right circle for a couple of minutes and nothing. But from a 50 or so hard stop I get a hard grinding. I can't see or feel anything that is rubbing. Its a rotational noise and seems to go away when I turn left.

I am going to flip the pads and see if that makes a difference, otherwise I really don't know where to look. Anyone have any ideas of anything else I should look for?

I haven't called Todd, but will if I can't get it figured out. Brake lines look good. Its a very hard rotational grinding, almost sounds like a wheel bearing, but I get no play when I shake the wheel.

Hub flex? Kind of hard to tell if the bearings have play when the brakes are installed, especially with fixed calipers.

If you could, try the 12 and 6 o'clock wheel grab with the calipers removed and see if there's any play.

I know my cobra brackets rub on hard turns or at least they use too. It was a pretty horrible noise. They have clearanced themselves.

I tried moving the hub with nothing on it when I put them on and nothing moved. Its just odd to me that it happens after I brake hard, and then only on a right turn.

I know my cobra brackets rub on hard turns or at least they use too. It was a pretty horrible noise. They have clearanced themselves.
Wrong kind of noise. I had that on my 93.

Did you miss a spacer when you put the caliper back on? Also can you tell which side the grinding is coming from?

Is there a caliper bolt anywhere in the vicinity? If there's any play in the wheel bearing, that can put the rotor into things attached to knuckle. I'm sure you've thought of that, but that's all I can come up with after looking at this thread for a few days and since it wasn't mentioned...WTH...

Went away for the most part, and was only doing it if I would go from 40-50 to a DEAD stop.

Going to suggest you see if there's any 'witness' marks. You found one.

The radial height of the caliper varies some on both sets of bolts. Loosen up both sets of bolts and leverage the caliper to the highest radial mount and re tighten them.

I've got some other brackets that you can take a stab at too. Been years but I may have altered this relation some to re place it at a higher radius.

Todd, these are custom brackets for the gen3 knuckles as this car has a gen3 subframe swap. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

Make new brackets with a higher mount radius. Something's not right, been rubbing for some time as I see it. I got a G3 casting somewhere if you need me to do it for you.

Appears as though you got placed in the wrong (too slow) run group?

That was the session with both novice and intermediate. I quickly acclimated to being passed as stock 91 brakes and touring tires were screaming in agony that day. Damn was it fun!!!!

black 91, Ohio plates, car #81. Old bearded dude with a big **** smile? Yep, I think it's me. First time on a real track. The one time I ran it up to 85 on the back straight my stock brakes told me to never,EVER try that again.

To get back on the purpose of this thread, I'm experimenting with the idea of 12.4" 05 Mustang rotors up front. With custom brackets they should fit under slicers.
