deep trouble. Actually, I'm just getting excited to be getting my SHO going again. Right now I'm putting my tranny back together for the final (I hope) time and just wanted to share.
One: the instructions call for the loosening of the "shift detent plunger bolt" but I just can't imagine how you can put it back together without removing it. It goes on to say, if you do remove it, you'll be sorry. While I am currently sorry, the shift detent plunger bolt is not causing it.
Two: The anerobic RTV it calls for is bloody expensive. $15 bucks at NAPA for less than 2 oz. And NAPA seems to be the only place that has it. And most NAPAs are closed on Sunday. The guy at Checker laughs at you when you call it "anabolic RTV."
Three: I'm taking apart my tranny because it passed the "shift it into each gear and spin it" test but failed the "shake it around and listen for jiggly bits" test. One of the balls in the shift selector area was put in wrong when I put it back together the last time. Finding the ball was easy, finding out where it went took Google.
