I searched the idle reset procedure and amd going to try that this weekend..

Heres the problem Im having;

Start vehicle idles normal.. Touch the trottle and it stays at 2-2500rpm and does not drop back down.

I just installed a ported intake, larger secondary throttle blades and a bored tb. No vacuum leaks as if I unplugged the IAC ( which is not on backwards! lol! ) it immediatly dies..

The larger TB blade did not have a hole drilled in the plate and I thought that may be the issue as Ive had that problem on v-8's ive built so I drilled a small hole to see if it helped air flow to get the IAC to drop down but no change..

Does everyone think the idle reset it the problem with this?

It couldn't hurt to try the idle reset first to see if it helps. I don't think anyone else had this problem with the bored TB's. I'll be installing mine probably this week. I've only had it for 6 months :nut:

Reset the idle. Cars have computers now :).

Yeah well the v-8's I was referring to are fuel injected smart ass. Why would anyone in there right mind drill holes in a carburetors throtlle plates!

For the same reason that nobody in their right mind would drill a hole in their throttle body plate. Now you've messed up the throttle position/air flow chart in the computer. I hope your MAF can compensate...

Reset the idle.

Just wondering why you didn't start this thread in the Performance Upgrades forum?

If in the process of messing with the pieces, you messed with the throttle plate stop screw, you'll need to do the base idle adjustment procedure, found in the FSM.

yeah there is plenty of airflow from the outsides of the throttle plate anyway as far as leakage. Also that hole you drilled is kind of what the IAC is for. But you're lucky because when I had my machinist do the tb's he ended up with 2 extra throttle plates he said hed sell me but I declined a since I had no use for them. So if you want another throttle plate let me know and I can see if he threw them our to not. I assume you bought the tb from me, I really don't remember though.

Actually I have to say I don't remember you at all, where did you get that bigger tb and how big is it?

Yeah.... thats why the oe ones have a hole to help flow enough base air volume so as not to effect TPS voltage. But hey what do I know!

Thanks.. I bought off here.. I think from you.. Dont remember myself..I'll let ya know If I need end of needing the plate..

I did the idle reset procedure and no change.. I gonna clean the IAC just to make sure nothing is causing it to stick.

Just thought maybe some others had encountered something simular..

Thanks to those with useful comments!

I'd start from scratch and throw the stock TB back on. If the car is ok with the stocker, make sure you are getting a good seal with the TB and the IAC, a small vacuume leak can cause all kinds of issues. I heard of one instance like this with the 69mm tb. I think what happened was there was so much air getting past the TB plate (hence why that hole you put in there might be bad) and it was causing issues. When I did mine I held the TB up to the light and moved the plate around until I could see as little light as possible. Believe me even that small gap around the plate will let plenty of air though, and the IAC is supposed to be what is letting the air through anyway at idle. Also FWIW IIRC only about 3 of the TB's I got for that GB had small holes drilled in them.;)

Oh yeah and you can tell if it was one of my TB's, I had numbers stamped into all of them right here:

69mmTB001.jpg

If you were not part of my initial buy, the ones I sold afterward had a 1 with a letter stamped after it instead of a number;)
