IAT sensor placement

I'm in the process of putting a CAI on my sho (filter in the fender) and am just wondering where those of you who have an intake on their car put the IAT sensor? I'm expecting to have to fabricate a custom housing for it, but I wanted some ideas to maybe make it a bit easier. This is just personal preference for sound btw, I know this won't net me any gains, i just love the way the engine sounds. Thanks in advance

Funny you should mention that... I just finished up a custom CAI on my wife's '95 ATX.

I figured - possibly correctly, possibly not - that the closer the IAT is to the combustion chamber, the more accurate its readings would be. That having been said, I decided it should go here:



It's placed at the 6 o'clock position just short of the throttle body. You can see the plug to it sticking toward the bottom of the car.

I actually really like your setup there, plus the placement of the sensor. How did you secure the sensor in the intake elbow?

My wife basically just cut a hole out for it with an X-acto knife bigger and bigger until it just barely fit through. The IAT has a nut that squeezes it against the hose, and it seems to work pretty well. I sprayed starter fluid around the periphery of where the sensor goes in and there is no RPM change.
