Okay ...

New motor is coming to replace the bad 3.0

With my new motor, I was thinking about getting my intake painted. But what color do I paint it? Suggestions, thoughts, comments? Got pictures to show me?

I have a 94 blue mtx w/ mocha interior.

Thanks!

Anthony

My suggestions.... Blue intake runners and valve covers w/ blank tanks. Or substitue gun metal for the black.

I'm having the same dilema. I can recognize what looks good but I have zero artistic ability. Trying to think of what will look good and have it actually looking good might be two different things for me. I'm trying to think what color intake will look good with what color hose couplers and what color vacuum hoses. Arg! Plus do I want to keep the intake one solid color? Have different colors. Make the butterflys the same of different color as tanks and runners. Blah! Plus I want it to look good in my car now and also look good if I decide to repaint my SHO a different color.

Shoot, maybe I should just try to paint it the stock color and get black hose couplers and hoses. A good clean stock engine always looked good. It's what we all fell in love with.

I'm doing the next set for my SHO all black with red letters, butterflies, and the upper inner timing belt cover.

It's all a matter of personal taste, me personally I like the colors to match the car color, interior color should not a play a role, black matches with everything and it's a great foundation color.

Less is better, I would think you'd want the intake to standout, if so you don't want some flashy colors on hoses to draw the eye away.

At the convention I saw cars that looked good underhood and some that the colors had nothing to do with the car, if you showed someone an underhood pic and showed another pic of the same car with hood down you'd never guess they were the same car, in my opinion that's not a good thing.

Bad color choices can **** the look of the car. :bonk:

I think they would draw too much attention to the eye, in my opinion, black hoses are the most subdued.

Another thing to think about, a battery especially some of the more colorful ones really draw the eye away from the engine, some kind of battery cover would help the look as well, painted the same color as the fender wells.

I know that a rear mounted battery may not be the best for traction but it does wonders for the look of the engine bay.

Removal of all stickers also helps to give the engine bay the clean look. :thumb:

Thanks for the pictures. I will go with the gunmetal tanks and the royal blue for the runners and valve covers. Now off to find the paint to do it!

It feels so good to get the ball moving on making her run again!!!!

Your timing covers stands out....

"cough" polished billet aluminum "cough cough"

I agree with Tony, take away anything that is screaming for attention other than the engine. I'm liking the blue runners with the gun metal tanks and covers.

Yes I'm thinking that might be the way I want to go...

Shoot, maybe I should paint my car yellow too, lol! Glen's car was my favorite at the convention.
