Well as you may know I had a revised atx trans installed in my car at 66,000miles. Well at 75,000 miles I'm starting to notice a california stop will result in a bang from the trans. And kickdown in second gear is kinda rough. But thats not all, I had to see what a full throttle jam at 35mph would do, and well, She banged rough it felt like it was going to burn out because of the force but then she just accelerated slowly. However everything else is great I can take it up to any rpm in first and she wont hesitate and she will hit the gear perfect and fast. It doesnt slip at any full throttle and it pulls like all ****. Im just very optimistic considering that yes it is revised but yes it could be eating its self apart. Could it be motormount for the 35mph prob? I got a 12/12 warrenty on my new trans so what yall think i should do? Im not a very happy camper with this car. SDPATT you da man so a word from you I would trust the most considering you SHOw quite a considerable amount of knowlage about the SHO. Damn tranny's shoot shoot

I must first say that I have a manual transmission and have no experience with the automatics. I appreciate your confidence in me, but there are many other SHO owners out there who could better answer this question.

As far as checking the motor mount condition, open the hood, put your foot on the brakes, move the shifter to drive and give it a little throttle. If the front plenum rises more than 1/2" then you probably need at least a front motor mount.

Slippage in or between gears is due to worn bands, but you do not seem to have this problem. Expeienced ATX owners please help this Forum member.

My advice is to check the fluid level, and see if it appears to be burned. The problem with the 93s is that we have those weak coolant-fed tranny coolers that allow the transmission fluid to not cool as well when the car is at running temp. I have recently had a quick rebuild myself due to this problem and I had the tranny shop put in an air cooled aftermarket air cooled tranny cooler to keep these two factors separate. But do check the motor mount at the same time. Some good practice is to have your motor mounts replaced on a rebuild since the motor is lifted off the subframe anyways...good luck..

I thought my rebuilt atx was dying as well until I realized that the front motor mount was torn.

Lift up your hood and while 1 foot is on the brake and the car's in drive, put the other on the gas and goose it a little bit.. look through the crack between the cowl and hood and you'll probably notice your engine move up 1.5-2 inches. The ATX doesn't get the "polishing" effect because of where the engine sits so that isn't a good indicator.
