i have a problem

i have 17 inch rims that cant clear the lip the tires are 225/50/17 i got them from another sho wowner who trashed his i was thinking of going with a thinner tire but i dont know how thin i should go i see ther owner on here with 18s help me out

You didn't say what the model year if your car is or what the offset of the wheels is. Each of these will make a difference in fitment.

it is possible to clear the lip by cutting the lip off. The other way is by getting a thinner brake rotor, but triming the lip is the easiest and most inexpensive way. Good luck!

What is the offset of the rims? How wide are they? A 225 tire should easily fit if the offset is about 40 to 42 mm.

Rim offset can pose a problem...but so can saggy springs. Mine wouldn't fit because of that problem.
