Got the on/off button going crazy, HVAC cycles on/off sometimes pretty rapidly. You have to use the actual touch screen as the lower controls are deemed useless during this. But doest matter it'll shut right off/on anyway as the actual touch button is being triggered.

Concussive therapy used to reset it and it would be great for a week, but I can't risk breaking my hand again, the last time I hit it I was seeing stars I hit the ****** so hard.

I'm assuming there are just a bunch of touch sensors behind the plastic screen, or maybe there is lint/debris that's bridging the gap and causing false senses/touches.

Has anyone split this unit apart to see what the guys look like?

OE replacement is $500 and the aftermarket full touchscreen won't allow for hvac use with remote start.

My 2014 started doing that this summer (don't remember it in the past), and it is crazy. it will be OK for a day or two, then on-off 5 times on my 10 minute drive to work.

Same as you, except I have not tried "severe concussive therapy", only "gentle concussive therapy" as I was afraid i would break it worse!

I took the FCIM apart on my 2013 MKS EcoBoost. There are multiple capacitive touch ICs on the flex board behind the buttons, but the part marking and pinout did not result in me being able to identify a drop-in replacement options. I did save my faulty FCIM in the hopes that either I'd come across another one to get one working or be able to part out the working ICs to get another one working.

After looking at ebay and car-part.com I decided it isn't worth gambling $200-$300 for a unit that may not work.

New one my cost from Ford $480 so...

I emailed the people who rebuilt my APIM and they said they are not repairing these... I might see if they want to buy my core and start repairing them....

If you go through Ford, they offer rebuilt for $500. I bought a replacement off eBay. I'm going to swap it in today and see.

But been dealing with this for awhile
