So recently I have noticed my fuel system does not primp when I unlock the car, open the doors or truck like it use to. I have been trying to run down the issue within the Shop manual but it only refers me to the Powertrain control/Emission control manual, which I can not locate, so am at a road block. The only two thing I can think of it there is an issue with my fuel tank pressure sensor or the Fuel rail pressure sensor but I am not able to test these since I am not sure what I am looking for. Would anyone out there be able to provide me with some info?

Do you have ForScan? I believe there are some functional tests in there you can try. There is also an option for when/what triggers the prime. Do you have any DTC? What is the symptom (Powertrain control/emissions control manual is by code or by symptom)? Hard start? Long crank? There is no option for not priming.

I have no DTC but I do have a long crank in the morning, so to me that sounds like the system is not getting primed or keeping the prime. How would you go about changing when it is triggered? Also is that suppose to be FordScan?

The low pressure fuel pump mounted on the fuel tank is the one that primes the system, not the HPFP.
I have two LED's installed monitoring it (read here ) and they light up every time I unlock or open the doors.
I believe the sensor you are looking for is what I labelled as #3. Your issue could be the fuel pump control module (also called relay) which is what tells the pump to prime or as you suspect, a sensor not telling the module to start the pump.
I also hit a wall when going through the shop manual and found the reference to the Powertrain control/Emission control manual, could not find a copy of it.

No, it is ForScan. ForScan It is a Ford specific program that allows you to reprogram modules. It also has Ford OE tests like the factory scan tool. Good news is you can get a free license for the software and it looks like the KIWI may be compatible. There is mixed reviews on compatibility. Otherwise an adapter may be needed.

Do you have access to Ford HC Pinout test procedures? That is the recommended next step.

It is also called the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manual. It is specific to generations of vehicles. Best bet is access to some sort of diagnostic software (such as Mitchell, AllData, OEM, etc).

jman1200,
the Control module is the other thing i am looking at and I might try your LED idea if i can't locate a testing procedure.

Ta2dResqr,
I was looking at that program and man i believe that is what i have been looking for sometime. Currently I am using older programs and mostly they just pull DTC and had to navigate. thank you. I will also be looking at the diagnostic programs in the near future.

Personally, I bought the OBDLink EX ($49.95) adapter for using ForScan on my laptop. I wanted the hardwired connection for programming modules (was initially part of a Sync3 swap but, led to being able to do other stuff). Then I bought the OBDLink MX+ ($119.95). I leave that plugged into my OBD port all of the time. This allows me to run ForScan Lite, HPTuners Track Addict, OBDLink, Torque, etc. There are cheaper options for adapters but these both do HS-CAN and MS-CAN. This opened a lot of doors for diagnostics, modifications, and even jailbreaking.

The diagnostic programs honestly are not the cheapest, (I think $60/yr/vehicle), but it is an amazing tool. Best option is to find someone that has a business subscription and piggy back off them (I think $189/mo all access).

So I got the FORScan lite on my iPad and man I love it! I know there are things I can’t do with, like programing but by far a great pro-rage. Thank you for the info. I am going to look into one of the diagnostic programs but for sure they are pricey.
