Ok while i was trying to get the beater running i thought i would switch coil packs. Well i have a spare pack sitting around off of my project motor. Well i go to put it on and the coil plug in is different. On both the silver bullet and the beater. On the coil pack plug in, there is a plastic peice on the plug in (On the bottom) and it is to the left. Well this coil pack from the other motor it is straight up and down. So i was like o ****! Did i get a wrong motor. So i went threw and checked some stuff. The alt that came off of the project motor is a 120v. And thats what atx's had on it. I checked the valve cover marking and it was kob which i did a search and some people said when it is a kob it is a 3.2. KOA's were 3.0L. But i can't go by that cause valve covers are switched all the time. And the intake manfold all the egr stuff is there. But that could be for a CAL car. So I'm worried that i have a 3.0L here and not a 3.2L. Or is there a difference in the coil packs and the coil pack wirning harness? (if u get what im saying) Is there really a way to check besides seeing what the bore is on the engine? Please respond ASAP i'm freaking out here!!

I can't make heads of tails of the situation you're trying to describe, but there are several ways to check to see which motor you have, the assys, the timing belt covers and tensioner configuration, the heads, the oil pan, etc. I can't remember off hand where the casting marks are on the block to go by. There are various coil pack connectors for various years and motors. The actual electronics are all the same, some just use a guide slot in different places.

EDIT: Just looking at your sig, since you have two atx's, it's safe to assume you have two 3.2L's.

Look at the head, where the alternator bracket mounts onto. Look at your 3.2L and look at a 3.0L, you will see the difference.

I read that when i used the search funcation here. I didn't understand it that well.... What am i looking for with the brackets? I remeber reading that on the 3.2L they are angled. And on a 3.0L the bracket sits flat. I have the heads off of the project motor. But let me try to explain this. I was looking at the head off of the project motor. I had it sitting flat on the floor. I was looking at the bracket and it was sitting flat. But you have to think thats not how the head sits!! The whole head is kind of at a angle when you bolt it to the block.. Right?? Or am i stupid... So when you put the head at a angle then.. the bracket is at a angle. Or am i toatly looking at this the wrong way. Is the bracket it's self mounted at a angle on the head. I mean i have looked at both of my ATX's sitting in my drive way and all of them look to be mounted the same way......... Hope i didn't loose any body here.. :bonk:

The coil pack bracket is what is different. How stripped are the engines? If they both have their factory oil pans on look for the oil level sensor. 3.0s have it on the back of the engine (same side as the drain plug) and 3.2s have it on the front.

If the heads are off, it will say KOA for a 3.0 and KOB for the 3.2 near piston #4.

Yes, the MTX has TWO belt channels on the crank pulley, and the ATX has ONE. Why not just take a picture of the thing and post it here?
