Hi all. I picked up a cowl hood a while back that needed some TLC. So far I have done all the sanding priming ect. I went ahead and rattle canned it.....tried to get the coats as even as possible but they always turn out kinda uneven. What is the best way to even it out after the paint dries? I have polishing compound I was thinking about, or wet sanding it with really high grit paper. Which would be recommended? If I should wet sand it, what grit paper should I get so I don't dull the finish? I've used 2000 before and it still dulled it....I had to polish it afterwards. Thanks for the help.

I'd sand it all down and use real paint. At $5.99 a can, you're better off buying a pint of Shopline and spraying it with a $15 gun. It took about 2.5 ounces of basecoat to spray that fender in my paint thread. I covered it with half a quart of duplicolor clear and it looked great.

It took less than a half pint of single stage to shoot an entire engine compartment.

Paint bombs are for brackets and other hardware. I'm never using it on the body of a car again.
