How to check to see if strut is good or not

Got a RR Sarc strut out of a 96 in the boneyard. finally got is tore down. How can you tell if the strut is still good. Thought about plugging it into the car to check, but not sure if that would work. Didnt pay alot so, wont hurt too bad if it is no good.

Don't know how to test it out of the car but on the car, bounce the car 3 times and see if strut stops the bouncing within 1 or 2 bounces...1 preferably

If you don't connect the wire to it it will be stiffer.

sarc sturts go in hard mode when no power is present, which is why people installed a switch to disable power while driving to get the hard ride, unless you power up the strut remotely you wont be able to test it properly
