How many people on this board are actually running a turbo right now?

Just wondering how many there are....I see a few here and there, but most don't fill out a sig...if you don't want to share some "tech" just put down stock/built motor, low/high boost, ic/no ic, maybe what you tune with...

half-way there, I think.
You'll get more answers if you ask who has a blower (supercharger). I know of 4 in Denver, Colorado now  As far as turbo, I know of only one on this board.

I'm not so much interested in superchargers. I'm way more a turbo fan, especially with such a high revving engine...

i think there is more than 1 some people rather not say what they have and some like to feel like they are the only one. Depending on the person i in fact know of 2 turbo shos in NY....yet alone some other people that have done it and are not members. There is also the sho engine in other cars...xrt4 with a turbo charged sho engine, twin turbo probe, there is also another car with a turbo sho engine in it. that is what i can come with at the top of my head....

The SHO motor has been turbo charged and put into a lot of off road cars and sand rails. Extreme Performance in California discovered our motor about 4-5 years ago and has been doing single and twin turbo'd SHO powered buggies ever since.

There are also two turbo'd SHO buggies here in Phoenix that I know of, one a very good friend of mine. Even though the buggy in my sig, "The Other Woman", has an Eaton blower on her, I'm still toying with the idea of a turbo on a SHO motor in something else.

Dour Lewis does not have a turbo last I knew, but a shaft drive supercharger. However, Chris (sho-ripper) does have a turbo set up on his black gen 1.

One reason why I preffer the s/c over the turbo on the sho is because theres no boost untill like 4000 rpms. The s/c will greatly increase low end torque, something shos dont have.

Actually a turbo will increase low end torque over what a centrifical blower (vortech) can. The blower is rpm dependent, max boost is only reached at max rpm, where a turbo can reach max boost after it spools up, say 3.5K rpm.

if you want some low end torque put on a positive displacement blower like and eaton, kenne bell, or whipple. i am running an eaton on my car and as far as i know am the only person with one, except tom with his buggy which is run in a completely different manner than mine.

I can kind of understand this with the MTX but a ATX should be able to spool the turbo up pretty good for a hard launch or even brake boost in for a roll, just some thoughts because this is what i'm planning, and yes the tranny is FIRST on the list because a reliable low boost setup is what i'm shooting for. I have talked with doug lewis in the past about his trannies and that is likely who i'm going to go with but i've still got some time to think about it.

Not to get off topic, but how and where in the heck did you find an Eaton blower for a SHO engine?

And would one of you turbo guru's contact me? I'm interested in an intercooled turbo set-up on my 92.

I just got an eaton off of a supercoupe and adapted it to the side of the SHO motor, in the same general location as the AC compressor. It's not difficult if you're a master fabricator. I am not so therefor it was expensive. I also run the charged air through an intercooler also. Once I get it tuned and if it gives my motor the bottom end grunt I'm looking for, I will do one on a SHO car.

I'm not a turbo guy but I do have another buggy with a Toyota Camy 4 banger in it, that also has had a turbo on it from time to time. What a difference that makes.

I'll be playing around with self designed a rear mounted twin turbo setup this fall/winter once a friend of mine gets his 3 bay lift equipped shop built in his back yard.

I saw a single rear-mounted turbo on a stock looking Silverado the other day...looked like it would be doable on a SHO if you found a place to route the line back from the turbo.
