heres the pic of my mtx tranni mount, i know i have seen pics on here of these that are just coming apart. my question is how long before this thing starts getting bad. i only drive it 4-5k in the summer, no track days. i know the previous owner hacked the plastic fender liners, could this be troublesome, cause more fatigue to the rubber.:thankyou:

The fender liner hack won't hurt the mount at all.

That mount likely has a long time to go yet, per your description of how you drive.

was the trans damper on gen1s too?, my car had a motor swap done several years ago by the previous owner (who used to be on here) i'm not sure what it came out of it, could have a 3.2 who knows, all i know is the motor/tranni had 90k on it and all the 60k and rod bearings were done.
-how does not having it effect the car? jerking in shifts maybe?
-where does the upper end of the piston connect to?

Either replace the damper or reinforce the mount. That rubber acts more like a shock absorber and less like a motion limiter. That transmission mounted damper does more than a lot of people think, I'd say.

Reinforcing isn't too hard, especially since the damper is already out of there. Do a search and if you need more help with reinforcing it, post back up.

Edit: the end of the strut attaches to a bracket that's supposed to be attached to the drivers shock tower.

Your trans mount look fine.

And there is VERY little to gain by reinforcing a trans mount.

The trans mount does very little.

If you want to reinforce something, reinforce the front motor mount.

I always thought the hole in the rubber near the center of the "V" in the mount was for a moisture drain. Mine has had that since its early days.

There's nothing wrong with that mount.
