how long to get to top speed?

How long does it take your v8 sho to get to its top speed. My 98 is an excellent cruiser, I can go 90mph all day long and it feels like im standing still and the car runs cool. I've never been able to go past 130 even down a MASSIVE HILL. I saw someone else had the same problem with a 98. I had my gps up and was using it for a speedo anyone know why it might not want to top out?

Cause your cats suck, rip the cats out of your sho and you'll have a better top speed.

I bounced my 96 off the limiter at 145ish in the middle of Kansas once. Didn't take long at all honestly...

Mine still goes easily and fairly quickly to the top in a long flat area with over 190K on it. You need to tell us more though, if we are to take guesses as to what might be the problem.

And removing all the cats is not the answer, by the way. All three of mine are still there.

I use to be able to get to 144 in just under a minute and about a mile and a 1/4.

i'm pretty sure i've got a clogged cat, and mine has no problem doubling the speed limit when the speedo stays working.

That would be because, as a couple of people have mentioned, there was very little chance that the cats were your problem. We still need more info before we can help you, though.

what ever you do DO NOT RIP OFF YOUR CATS. its an old wives tale to get "more power" and higher top end. kind of like the one where if you take off the egr valve you get more power, they dont really have anything to do with power at all.
