I have just noticed that I have to hit the overdrive button while in drive. The overdrive won't turn off in first gear. Of course this is all while you have your foot on the brake and your are lined up and ready to haul @$$.

If you are wanting to make a hard launch when you are racing. Sorry to have confused you. You of course will want to shift to 2nd once the RPM's get too high.

I usually wont start in 1st and hold it at a certian amoutn of revs. my tranny is weak.

I just start in drive, and hit the gas down about 60-70% then once i get around 35 i floor it, and when it shifts to 2nd, i shift the shifter to second because 2nd gear shifts way to early.

How long do you hold it in 1st and at what rpm?

I dont. When we first got the car, i did it by dropping it in first and reving it and then let of the brake, and by leaving it in drive, and just start off hard.

Same results.

I would like to see you keep your ATX. I just know that there has got to be a way to keep these trannies going for cheap. I have looked into a better setup for my ATX too. $3000 seems to be the going price. I plan on switching cars next year for the SCCA, the SHO is just too heavy and unless I mod the death out of it-I will never be fully competitive.

Get a mtx and supercharge it.

In 2000, there was a fellow who had FPS build an ATX car from end to end. Something 396 BHP at the wheels and would light them up at 80 MPH...

There was an ATX on E-Bay a while back that ran in that Nevada high speed race. Stock ATX that trapped at 151 at the end...

And, quite honestly, I have yet to see an ATX even close to as powerful as some of even the basic 9 psi MTX cars out there are. I don't think they've really been tested yet. Ben Bentley's and Jason's (Kaotic's) are the only two Supercharged ATXs that come to mind.

Not to mention, for road racing, an automatic will get you laughed off the track.

Hmmm, An automatic will get you laughed off the track. I know at the last gingerman event I was on track with Several Race preped mustangs in my Naturally aspirated 3.2 litre SHO with an automatic trans. Now if I recall correctly those mustangs would have the HP to get by me on the Strait's but I was doing a damn fine job of chasing them down in the twistys. Oh, I was on street tires too. Personally, I love my ATX as a track car.

For the Record, there are/were 3 supercharged ATX cars that I know of.

There is another one. A guy nemed Leon has one of our kits in a green '94. He's in NYC, but not on the list.

We did our original shaft drive system that mounts the blower on the drivers side and has the driveshaft that runs across the front of the motor to the belts on the passenger's side. It's running a Ford MAF mounted in the fender, 42lb injectors, MSD ignition and a big fuel pump in the tank.

We built the tranny to take the power and did the suspension with Tokiko struts and Eibach springs. It has our original Big 12" Brakes, 24mm and 26mm sway bars and bushings, our original Aluminum Rear Control arms, our original Subframe Connectors and a set of Milli Miglia 17" wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sports. With only about 8psi of boost, it's layin' down an easy 300hp. Shifts are nice and tight and it gets great mileage when his foot isn't stuffed in the blower.

I've had my ATX for about 5 years now, and am on tranny #4 and may be the last one, what I found is the ford transaxles take well to more line pressure, but a rebuild, chip, Shift kit, ect, will not give you what you need, I know, I have them all. But. You can adjust your line pressure on car. Many people told me there was no way of doing it on our trannies, but then I found an article somewhere on the web on (How To) while my car was getting said #4 transmission. There is a screw underneath something, inside something, under something (god I wish I could find it again) turn it 1/8-1/4 turn=more pressure. I called my tranny guy, told him, he said, yeah I see it. OK do it. Now for the first time I can chirp 2nd, my shifts are rock solid and he said it should be good for about 400hp-400tq.

New transmission with the extra clutches
New torque converter
Trans-go Shift kit
12"x14" cooler with 10" electric fan
AmsOil synthetic fluid
Ted B. chip
line pressure adjustment
Installed
____________
$3053.54 minus chip..........Bulletproof (I hope)

But I am looking into a SLO 3.98 finaldrive (SHO is 3.77) and maybe a tweecer

Is the line pressure adjustment on the outside of the transmission or by dropping the pan? If it is, I suppose that I should be able to find mine after a little poking around. I've been able to adjust line pressure electronically via a Superior Adjustable PressureRiser. www.superior-transmission.com

I agree with you that the SHO's final drive gives up too much acceleration. Someone was working on adapting a windstar final drive to the Axod-e. IIRC, it was something like a 4.10. I can feel a good boost with just using a 225/50-16 tire compared to the stock 215/60.

Where in PA are you from, SHOoff?

Oh, and if I may add. How 'bout them Eagles? :thumb:

I have seen Tom W. run a 13.4 @ 107 or something around that trap speed.
