How do i remove the lock to the trunk and fuel door release?

I'm planning on swapping the trunk lids on two of my cars and want to swap the locks to the trunk and feul door release so the keys will still match up? how do i remove the lock?

First remove the plastic cover, then pull up the box from the floor, at that point you should see there is a C shaped slide clip that holds the lock cylinder in from the bottom, simply slide it towards the back of the box and the cylinder will come out.

No, you can still unbolt it and get to the back of it to remove the clip. I did not have the key to the one in my '90 restoration project and I got it out just fine.

All the key does is turn a small level that swings over th trunk release, preventing I from opening. If you pull the carpet back, or remoce the plastic cover, you can see the lever. Just use screw driver to push the small lever away from the trunk release. I have todo this a lot since I don't have a trunk key, and the cylinder gets pushed down accidentally.

As far as using a key, I'd be surprised if the cylinder is actually keyed. Try it first with your old key, before replacing the cylinder for the new key.

yeah I've tried other keys no luck.. even a lock pick set...

I'll try what you guys mentioned......

man I'm good at fixing drivetrains and stuff but its always the small stuff like this I neglect.... lol
