I dont see how to get at the units in my 93... Whats the trick?
Buy a DIN removal tool at walmart and stick it in the holes on the side until you hear a click, then pull.

See those 4 holes on the front?

Got to Wal-Mart, buy the Ford stereo tool for about 3-4 bucks, stick a tool into each pair of holes, push outwards, then pull the head unit out of the dash.

When i can`t find my tools,i use 4 small Allen wrenches.Pretty much anything that fits in the holes will do,but the tool works best.

You can also use 4 small nails but it is not very easy. Whatever you stick in there you have to push them toward the doors. That pulls the clips in that are on the side of the radio so that they clear the side of the dash and slip the radio out. The problem with using nails and other stuff is that you can stick them in to far and then when you try to bend the clips in the nails get in the way and it will not work. You will understand once you get it apart and see how it works.

I would also recommend the proper tool because it makes it so much simpler. The tool that's made is just the right diameter and has notches so that you don't stick it in to far.

If you're really cheap: Several (10) years ago, I asked about such a "special" tool. A Ford mechanic laughed his ass off at me, then stated he used thin welding rod bent into a "U". I use same, but heavy coat hanger wire. Works like a champ! In a pinch, a regular coat hanger section will also work.
