during my adventures in weight reduction i happend to go thru the floor a couple of times, im stripping out all the sound deadining, whcih weights a ton btw. whats the best way to fix the hole, i dont have a welder, would riveting new panels be enough if this is a track only car?

That would probably work. If the holes aren't to big, you might be able to just hammer the surrounding flat and then gob some jb weld on it. Then you could paint it to match if you want. This was just an idea that popped into my head, maybe not a good one but oh well.

Are you putting a cage in the car?

i plan on adding bracing to reduce flex but it wont be strong enought to be concidered a cage altho itll basiclly look like on when its all finished,

u think it would be aeasier to do whole sections of the floor brand new or just the small areas i dont really care how it looks

1/4" diamond plate? that is big time overkill, the floor is only sheet metal.

What kind of holes did you make? drill holes? if you just punched holes with a drill you can leave them no worries.

i scraped some off whn it got hot from sitting in the sun, but the best way was to freeze it with dry ice, then it jsut chipped off. i hhave a few rust spots, im gonna have to do some cutting and riviting of new boards. im just gonna use sheet metal.

when i do so, should i seal it up, i dont want to add weight but if im gonna be racing eventually im gonna be rained on

Come on Rob,I'm surprised you didn't jump on this.

Just don't plan running Naaaawwwsss with the diamondplate, I hear if you too big of a shot, you'll blow the welds on the intake manifold and your passenger floorpan will fall out. :snicker:
