My friend has an '89. He just got a custom built box for not 1, not 2, but 3 MTX thunder 8000 10s. They're being powered by a Audiobahn class d amp, i dont remember the model, but hes pushing over 2500W in his trunk alone. i also gave him this idea, the SHO has 4 speakers that are mounted in the trunk and come into the cab, there is a lower pair and an upper, they are all 6x8s. What he did was take out both pairs of 6x8s out, and mounted 6x9s underneith becuase he couldnt fit them in the upper part thats in the cab. So i told him where the old upper 6x8s were to put new 6x8s and he did. Hes powering those with a Boss amp. Its crazy, he only turned it up to 15 (goes to like 50) and i got that feeling where your hair starts to inch hella bad because all the vibration. He hasnt turned it up for us yet, but lord all mighty. Talk about overkill. We got next to this civic attempting to dump, lol...after his sound system was put to shame my friend put the icing on the cake and smoked his ass.

I have two mtx thunder8000 12" subs powered by a mtx thunder 1000d amp. They are nice subs and the amp is even nicer for the price to power it is a great deal.

Thats nothing. I got two brand new pioneer 6X9s being pushed by deck power. I'm guessing about 50 dbs. Now no one on here can top that!!! haha j/k. Acctually about 2 years ago The rockford fosgate van came into utah and it beat the previous sound record by hitting 189 db or something like that. Like I said though that was two years ago so it was probably beat again. It weighed like 15,000 pounds, over a mile of cable, and over 30000 watts of power. It had to have bullet proof glass and the guy was saying it you sat in it when the turned it on it would collapse your lungs. Thats a lot of money in there.

I sat in the 1997 JBL Competition Dodge Ram. The bed of the truck had been turned into a huge ported sub box. It was clean as well as loud.

yhardy1273: Is your dB claim estimated or registered ?

The AudioBahn amps are kick butt. I will probably be running them myself. I had the 3 MTX 8000 10s in a MTX box running with the MTX Pro1502 AMP (400 Watts RMS) back by a 1 Farad Cap. It hammered incredibly loud for the power I was sending it. That box was the best box you can buy (I am not talking custom boxes but mass produced boxs). I miss that box. I should have never sold it. frown

I think I should invest in a hearing aid manufacturer, 'cause in 20 years, there will be a LOT of people going 'eh? 'eh?
Not that I am putting down power; Bob Carver and I created the world's first "super amp", the Phase Linear 700 watt amp in the late '60's when the most powerful amp existing until then was the McIntosh 150 watt amp.
There seems to be a lot of concentration on the ego trip of loudness competition rather than realizm and quality, and it looks like surround sound, with its requirement of a center speaker, is going to wind up sneaking up on those who ignored planning for the future.
