I was hoping someone with taste could help me out. I was in a recent accident with a deer and broken my driving lights. The insurance company will buy me new ones but I have to tell them what I want....FAST. I had on my car a set of Catz super white driving lights. Retailed at about 230 when they where new. I cant seem to find Catz lights anywhere anymore besides HID and dont think that will fly with the Insurance company. When I do searches you all seem to talk about some 30 to 50 dollar sets. No pun intendended but I feel that those wont measure up to what I origonally had. Does anyone here have any experence with some good quality lights that are durable and bright. Some that are properly focused and dont leak?

Thank you.

I have a set of those pilot fogs as well. Let me see if I can load up a couple of crappy pics I took with my cell phone.

I have the Hella FF75's and i like them a lot. They are nice and bright out of the box, and thats with a 55 watt H7 bulb. I ran the silverstar 100 watt ones for a while, but i was replacing a bulb about once a month. That got to be too much money.

I found a pic that shows them pretty well. Here you go

They're H3 bulbs, rated at 55 watts. Not the best out there, but a huge improvement over the stock fogs.

I'll try to get some better pictures tonight, as these were taken with my cell phone.

I have since added a HD harness, and output is probably 50% better.
IIRC, I payed 30-ish for these...

Wow, the light output is incredible. Do you even need to use your headlights?

yes and no...
I live out in the country, so I use all the light that I have (all 290watts worth).
But for inner city driving, I *could* get away with just the driving lights.

The problem with that is, since the fogs are mounted so low to the ground, you can't really project down the road alot, without aiming them a bit high. Two problems with that part of the deal, is 1)you'll blind oncoming drivers and 2) you loose useable light that is being projected upwards...

But they do project down the road fairly well, and light up the road infront of the car 10x better than the stock setup.
I'll grab some pics while driving with them on tonight. :thumb:

If your insureance company is going to pay for them get some sylvania xenarc x1010 HIDs. But if you're getting a check and buying them yourself then I would go with something like SASHO91. By the way SASHO what kind of projectors are they?

I can't recall the name of them, but I did post a link to them on eBay not too long ago... (can't find that thread either)

Foglights

IMHO the best value is the Hella 20/20 Optilux runs about $54, $58 @ Summit, JC Whitney, Autobarn.com, and some Walmarts. These lights have a fog and driving ligt in both lights 4 555 watt beams total. the switch fits in stock dash opening. It's nice to switch from driving to fog mode. The fit stock location & oprning. Some modification of stock brackets requied (60 min job). Hella makes oem lights. I've been using the 20/20 for 1.5 year no problem.

Took some pics tonight of the lights with the harness. Just for a comparo....

Before the harness-

DSCF0262

after the harness- (it's wet outside)
DSCF0670
DSCF0671

Just the fogs-
DSCF0673

With the headlights (low beam)-

DSCF0675
NOTE: The driver side bulbs' low beam filament is not so good, and I believe that's why the output is less than the passenger side. Once I build a harness for the high beams, im going to throw in some 80/100watt bulbs in.
Anywho... thought i'd share those new pics.
