If you have a pressure pump, you could always disconect the wastegate control valve and open up the wastegate, then go for a test drive to see if the noise is related to the turbocharger system.

The easiest way to test for boost leak is get a PVC plug that fits your intake right after your filter, thread a quick connect air fitting on it and hook up a compressor to your intakr, you can take it to 10 or 15 psi and listen for air leaks. I dont remember whether you've tested for boost leak yet, ive had a very busy week and haven't gotten to loon at mine yet hopefully I can get to it this Saturday and also get the 02 sensors replacedI think I will just try another test with my remote bluetooth microphone, get it near the turbo and listen.
I did that but left the fuse in, found my noise passenger rear.4 jackstands (preferably not harbor freight) and removal of the abs fuses may be your next option so you can"drive" it with the wheels off the ground.
So tried this today. Had to fit plugs to clean air duct, throttle body connection, crank case vent. I used ****** for vent hose that runs to power brake booster to pressurize. Blew the plug out on clean air duct several times, had to clamp this real tight. Anyway, at 16 psi, could not hear any hissing. Have dealer appointment later in September. I did inspect these valves initially when I removed the rear compressor outlet duct to check for splits. I removed both valves to check how these were seating and put 12v to the solenoid to check if they actuated. Best as I could tell everything was good. Doesn't mean one might be defective. Thanks for that suggestion.This may have been brought up already.. Did you inspect your recirculation valves? You won't find an internal leak with the above test.
Hit up @802SHOWell, I finally had the dealer diagnosis the issue as "failing turbo", although I'm not real convinced since I've been driving it for 6 months without any noticeable loss in performance. Makes 16psi boost, just it squeals! Anyway, rear or right bank turbo replacement.......$2800. So my initial investigation in Chiltons and crawling under and over the engine, yes, it will be a bitch. Chiltons, step #6, remove the front subframe. I can see this might be necessary but that's a lot of work. Saw one YouTube video of an Explorer the pulled the CV driveshaft instead. I'm going to watch that again, it may have been Ecoboost 4 cylinder, not V6. Otherwise, no other videos or Flex or Taurus SHO to help. Will search Forum to see if a member has shared any video or photos for DIY
