How do i replace the cover on the high mount brake lite ?It looks like the pass. side of the cover that fits over a stud broke off . The stud is still there and the cover is hanging by the drivers side stud. Don,t want to take it to Ford ,i bought the cover from a Ford supplier($30.00 cheaper) and if possible i will change it myself. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

What year is your SHO? I haven't looked closely at a 2013 or newer to know if they are any different than the 2010-2012.

For a 2011, here's what the factory service manual says:
2011TaurusCHMSL zps89dc0d8a
Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the LH rear head restraint. For additional information, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Seat Backrest - Rear in Section 501-10 .
NOTE: The high mounted stoplamp cover is attached to the base with hook-and-loop strips.
  2. Slide finger between the base and the cover to separate the hook-and-loop strip(s).
  3. Grasp the sides and pull the cover down to separate it from the high mounted stoplamp.
  4. Using a thin plastic flat-bladed tool, carefully unsnap the high mounted stoplamp connector from the rear window.
  5. Squeeze the 2 tabs and release the high mounted stoplamp from the rear window.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Good luck with the Jeep. If I had known you were just going to trade it in, I might not have helped. ;)

Don't worry, he'll be back soon enough :) Seriously, enjoy the Cherokee.
Probably will been a ford guy my whole life. Both my sons have Jeep products (2014s) been very impressed by both. tried to buy a 2015 ford product but the Jeep dealer ,good friends with one of my sons, beat ford by $4000 on the same type of car. Should be here in about 7/10 days.

Hard to argue with a nice price! Track time, or strictly daily driver?

Daily driver, grew up in a racing family,my dad took me to many local tracks with his buddies when they were running their cars. Never liked short track racing so did mine on the drag strip. Finally decided i was to old when i sold my 03 Cobra 2 years ago.Sad
