high idle

Earlier this month I posted a topic on code 81 which is lack of power to the IAC valve. I did not have the time to really trace the problem so I took it to the Ford dealer to find out whats wrong.They told me that the computer was bad so I replaced it with one from a SHO that was running just fine.Its still idling at 2000-3000 rpm after spending over a hundred bucks on another computer headbang Its now putting out a code 67 same symptom different code shrug Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.

In each of your three previous threads regarding this problem, I (and others) gave specific items to check.

Please go back to each of them and actually check them.

The code 67 has nothing to do with this symptom.

I agree with the above air leak.Back when I did my 120K I wanted to headbang over an air leak.Get a squirt bottle with soapy water and spray around points where it may leak(over intake) should see bubbles where she is leaking.Check your air intake box and hose for loose connections.Hope this helps thumb

I agree with about checking for air leaks but it would have to be after the MAF sensor to cause this problem.

Using soapy water doesn't work on vacuum leaks, only air pressure leaks. To check for vacuum leaks you need to use a propane bottle and very small hose or a CO2 bottle and small hose.

Open either bottle just a little and put the hose end near all of the fittings that are sealed in the intake tract. The engine will speed up when the propane gets sucked in and it will slow down when CO2 gets sucked in.

The key is to use the gases sparingly and to have the radiator fans ON to keep air circulating in the engine compartment.

You don't want propane to "pocket up" on you. I used a piece of bent brake tubing on the end of the hose to be able to reach all of the out of sight seals.
