HID anyone?

Keith, there are certain circumstances where I wanted high beams on my 95 MTX, but those are the exception, not the rule. On my 95 ATX, I like having the Silverstar 9007 bulbs, with the HID fogs - this isn't as bright as the 9007 HIDs, but I get that high-beam warm-fuzzy feeling when I want it on 146 at night. The X1010 HID Fogs I have are currently $299 on Sylvania's site, from memory (down from $549 at one point). Downside: Wireless remote means you're going to leave them on accidentally & come out of work one afternoon to a dead battery. Ok, Ok, more than one afternoon so far... wink

The dual-position HIDs are much more expensive (to the tune of probably $800-$900) for the setup, and I don't think anyone's done those yet.

Yeah, Fred, I do like the Sylvania fogs on your car. I picked up a pair of Silverstar 9007's the other day, but started thinking HID again when I saw this thread. I imagine both main and fog as HID's would be pretty sweet!

Well...some people have done them. But mine aren't quite what you were thinking of.

As far as low/high beam there so far made at a decent price my misterjung.com here is a picture of them:

$459 for H4/9003 setup, but no 9004/9007 from him for us SHO owners squint . Group Buy maybe?

I was shown a catalog about 2 weeks ago (not the vendor you mention) that had 9007 dual-position setups.

Photos are pretty self explanatory. Just pay attention to the road signs and how far down you can see them. In one there is a pickup truck up in front of me and the point when I took the pic is when I could see the reflection of the headlights on his tailgate.

I don't have a good wall to get a shot on, but I got one at the school across the street. Unfortunately, the driveway is on a hill and the school has a grade also leading up to the wall. Screw it, I'll post it anyway.

Looking nice and superwhite Beth, do you happen to know if there 4300K light output HID's? Cause thats what hey look like with no blue at all.

I believe so. The stage II kits are 6000K. These are plenty bright for me, so much so that around here if they were any brighter I think I'd get pulled over. rofl

I do think there is some tweaking that could be done to focus the beam more forward as the lenses on the Gen 1 has the "scatter reflectors" built into the glass to reflect light better. The lenses would be much better with just a plain clear piece of glass like the newer cars have. Even still, I'm very happy with them.

Fred, the dual-beam ones you saw in the catalog - are those the $800-$900 ones you mentioned? For ~$700 I could do the one-beam 9007 and the X1010's.

BTW, those are bright lights, Beth! I see what you mean about probably not needing high beams.

By the way, i was driving yesterday and i saw a TL-S that looked EXACTLY like yours. Same window tint, rims, lowered.. anyways.. i just found it interesting.

Wow same 19" Lowenhart rims must be getting popular.

Beth the only reason I still think there just stage I's is because stage II or 6000K or higher are blue in color not in output AKA Lemuns.

www.hidkits.com might be the ones saw Fred at least they were the ones I've seen before. They have a hi/low 9007 set up my only worry is that they don't have the quality look of those from Mrjung.

Actually the 4300k are the brightest, the higher you go in colour temp, the less bright they will be.

In lemuns there brighter but to the human eye at least in my expierence the blue-er looking HID's seem brighten even though technically your right and 4300K is brighter in lemuns.

Wow, that shot on the building seems to have a lot of glare, but still can't really tell for sure. But I guess it can't be perfect from those crappy stock gen 1 headlight housings (or lenses to be exact). I just hope I'm never driving in front of you at night finger

We played around with them yesterday evening at our little meet and were sucessful in aiming the driver's side down a bit and in toward the center. During our ride home last night I got no flashes from oncoming traffic and Bill who was in front of me the majority of the trip home had no complaints. I do think that a non-refracting lens would be better, but with them aimed down a bit made all the difference in the world.

In the pic with the lights against the wall, the driver's side light was aimed more up and outward than the passenger side not to mention that the car was on a grade pointing up. I'll see if I can get another shot to show the difference between then and now.
