yeah before and after. and checked that like 10 times to make sure.

If you checked with a chilton manual , no wonders. Here is the correct way:

If not , double check your DIS , maybe swap it with another good one to see what happens.

Pull the codes. Even though there's no CEL, there may still be codes stored in the computer.

Have you swapped out the cam sensor at all?

Did it have the same problem before putting all those parts on ? If not, then one of those, or how they were installed is likely the culprit

havent replaced the cam position sensor. that was the next step. all the parts were put on sepretly not at once. been chasing this problem for some time but recently got worse and starting to get really annoying.

Just had the same problem..
My MAF was bad, TPS was bad, and 2 of the 3 rear plug wire boots had
Vertical cracks in them.. I had to pull them out, and look at them all the way around, before I spotted the cracks.
I used 2 spare wires, changed the back 3 plugs, and it runs great now.
Your MAF can be bad for a while before it throws a code..
I suggest switching out with a known good one.. :munch:

I have a 93 MTX that had the same problem as you described, I replaced the crank position sensor and it fixed the problem.

Has your engine ever been hard to start also when your having this trouble? mine sometimes would crank and crank before it would start and sometimes run just fine

Do you plan to do the crank sensor yourself or have someone else do it? Its not that easy but you could save yourself some $$ if you do it. Im in the Peoria area if that answers your last question :)

you might check the ground wire that connects to the fire wall or strut tower. on the passenger side. There is a chance that the connections is faultly because it is slightly corroded were 2 wires are crimped together. This is a direct ground to the computor and if it is loosing it ground with the vibration of the motor, it may cause this.

so got the new cam position sensor on it and still acting up. i was wondering if there were any common fuel problems. i am leaning twards the fuel concern because of the backfire. it makes a poping noise in the exhaust. could i have a leaky injector?????
