I've never heard of a testing procedure for the crank sensor but would really like to see one...
Speaking of chips....is there one installed? If there is, remove it. One never knows.....
I forgot to mention. Bad CPS was giving me +12v before cranking, falling to 7-9 volt with cranking.
We ran THIS TEST PROCEDURE and found the anticipated voltage on cranking.. however, we did have 12v before cranking.. is that normal ?
Using an LED test light, ground to the negative battery and probe the dark blue wire on the harness side of the crank sensor connection.
Crank the engine.
If the CPS signal is outputting you will see the LED test light flash on and off.
You can also check the EEC's SPOUT signal into the DIS (yellow wire with ?red? stripe on rear DIS connector), and then the coil (don't know which wire).
That's the ticket.
We have a winner. CPS was showing 12 volts prior to cranking. Thank you very much.
Everyone who thanks slapnpop gets a thanks from me.
:thankyou:
