Sounds like it might be. Bottom end noise is always bad. Atleast pulling the pan to check is pretty simple

You can drain the oil and look for metal. to get to the rod bearing you pull the pan. With the pan off there is a metal gertal to unbolt and the oil pickup tube. Then you will be looking right at the crank and rods. Of course the y pipe has to come down to get to the oil pan. You may see something right away, or you may have to start unbolting rod caps to check each one.

No, not yet. 5500 rpm once ain't gonna **** the thing. Is the oil light on? Does it make the noise with just the engine running? (Not moving)

Need more info before we can determine if your shit broke

Hard to tell from the internet. Drain the oil and look at it closely, drop the ypipe and oil pan look around inside for debris, and go from there. As was stated, real bottom end motor noise could be.. like.. bad. It's too hard to get a handle on with limited info here other than check bearings. If you want to youtube it then maybe someone can come up with better trouble shooting from afar.

It's hard to say without seeing/hearing it. Do you have an automotive stethascope? You need to try to figure out where exactly the noise is coming from.

I thought I might have thrown a bearing on the GenIII when I was driving it. Misfiring, knocking, belching smoke, no power..thought the motor was *****. Popped the hood and the sparkplug was smashed and blown out of the hole and fragged the COP. Tapped new threads, new plug and coil, and ran like before...

Check all the tensioners too. I had a loose TB tensioner and the belt hitting the cover made it sound like there was a knocking somewhere. Draining the oil would be good place to start. Good luck.
