Ok i was sitting in traffic today and my engine light came on then I looked down at my temp gage (autometer) and it was a 250! Then steam started coming out of the hood so i shut it off and some guys helped me push it into a parking lot where I let it cool down for awhile then i filled it back up with water. Now I dont think its a hose but i did see that the coolant tank has a big crack at the top but im sure that did not cause this. So now im thinking water pump.

How hard is it to replace a water pump?
Has anybody had a shop do it? If so how much?

Quick question, what makes you think it's a water pump?? Could be a rad cap not holding pressure, thermostat sticking closed, rad fan not working, fan control module not turning the fan on, fan cooling switch, wiring, rad leaking, blown head gasket, etc, etc, etc!?! Just a few other things to think of before shotgunning a water pump at it!

Ok problem is solved my coolant fan went out which caused the radiator to go too! I would normally do the work myself but with limited to a garage and since it wont quit rainning here, and my machenic out of town (toolman) I took it to the shop. He put a brand new rad in with labor for $225 and on the way home sitting in traffic it started to heat up again so I went back to the shop and we tested out the fan and it was shot and the parts store wanted $125 for a new one, so I said no way. So tonight I went up to tims (toolman) place and went SHO diving I got 2 fan assemblys (not sure which one works) a set of gen 2 taillights, a coolant tank and trunk weather striping. Man i love having a SHO boneyard not far from my house and the funny thing is he doesnt know what all I took yet:evilgrin: (still on vacation)
but its ok when he gets back I will pay him for everything.
