Ok so my car just started acting up again today. It did it once before then was fine now its doing it again. I pulled the codes and got 111 the for stored codes i got 122, 212, and 214. The car doesnt want to run although it will start on occasion but the tach will not work.

122 is the TPS reading below minimum self-test voltage (i.e. <~.8v). 212 and 214 both point to a bad cam sensor, which will definitely cause your car to run like *****.

122 TP low (possibly grounded or open circuit) - TPS
212 Ignition TACH signal was erratic (module/wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault
214 Error in Cylinder ID (CID) circuit or signal - Ignition Systems

Throttle position sensor code, check wiring / connection to throttle position sensor

Cam sensor most likely stopped working. Try unplugging the SPOUT connector and see if it runs.

Also consider a bad DIS module.

If you can get your hands on another DIS (known to be working), you can easily swap it in to see if it helps.

I should add that i disconnected the battery to reset the codes. I drove the car for 5 minutes and the light came back on again. Can anyone point me to the spout connector and also theres a random plug on the drivers side of the firewall thats unplugged its in the harness at the brake cyl. its grey and has two wires on it. Theres also an open plug that looks like they belong togther. I just dont want to plug them in if there not supposed to be. When i got the car there was a connector plugged in there but the wires ran to nowhere looks like someone screwed around with something.

There is a connector that has two pins in it that isn't plugged in. I can't remember if it's gray or not, but it's the test port for the power steering (yeah, bet you didn't know there was one!). The SPOUT is by the EEC self-test connector, down under it. It's a little gray jumper plug that fits into a connector. Another two-wire connector near the area you mentioned is the connector for the cruise control deactivation switch - the one that catches fire and burns your car/house/you down. It's possible somebody disconnected it as a temporary safeguard.

Cruise works so it must be the one for the power steering and i checked theres no open recalls on the car.

Ok so pulling the spout connector did nothing. I think the TPS code is from when i started it after forgetting to plug it in lol. So my guess is that the cam sensor is bad. Would this cause the tach to stop working. Also it only does it when the engine is warmed up to operating temp. Otherwise there is no cel

I think the 212 and 214 codes together indicate the DIS more than the cam sensor. That's just what I would try first but they are both very easy to get too.
