Hi, I need some help to find the fix for two problems with one of my sho's, It's a 97. When I drive the car above 90mph or for long periods of time over 80mph the abs light turns on and doesn't turn off until I shut off the car. I don't know what it could be so any advise will be appreciated. The second problem is the idle of the car is about 800 and is giving me no more than 220 miles per tank. about the idle I cleaned the IACV without any changes, even replaced it with a new one whithout luck. This high idle started afther I got the cams welded. this could be related to a bad calibrated spark plugs? Thanks for any help.

800 rpm is about normal. Maybe the 80-90 mph drives are part of the reason? :)

Check your tire pressure.

The ABS sounds like a dirty sensor ring or maybe a wheel bearing (also will reduce mileage)?

Might have a vacuum leak. When was the last time the plugs were changed?

A little side question:

If I'm on stock 16" with 225/55 tires, what should the PSI be? I just checked v8sho and it says the factory recommended 30psi. I've been doing about 35 in each tire. I only see 225ish miles per tank all in town driving, but get drastically better on highway.

The answer for the tire pressure is on your glove box, it says 32psi or 35psi, I always do 34 or 35psi. The spark plugs were replaced at a cam weld on last june the mileage at that time was 71,000k now is 82,000. but the problem started right afther the cam weld, also I was asking if a wrong gap could be the problem because they put the AGSF32FM plug but I dont know if they gap the plugs correctly.

Depending on who welded it, it might not have been put back together correctly, either. I watched at least one camweld get re-assembled without the EGR gasket, and the assembler didn't care after they found the gasket laying around, either...

Of course, that same outfit finally offers intake cleaning with their camwelds, so they may have improved. It's been almost two years...

My 97 idles at 700-900, I'm pretty sure it does have a vacuum leak, but at this point I really don't care. I get anywhere from 250-300 to a tank. Mileage has gone down since winter kicked in though! :frown:

The 98 idles alot lower like it should.

Hey, SHOZ123 how do I can clean the thing that you said about the ABS sensor? and thanks for the reply's

Take the tires off and use some soap, water and a stiff brush on the rings, may take a wire brush.
