Help with Engine Size

Recently purchased a '93 Manual Transmission SHO. Can anyone tell me what engine I have, or how to identify it? The person I bought it from thought it was a 3.2L but everything I read about what was available points to 3.0L.

Also, is the crank position sensor and the water pump the same between the 3.2L and 3.0L?

Manual SHOs came with 3.0's, automatics came with 3.2's. Some people swap the 3.0 for the 3.2 though. Is your coil pack level with the ground, or angled? How many accessory belts do you have?

I'm not sure about the CPS and water pump compatability.

No MTX cars came factory equipped with 3.2s. There are several 3.2 swapped MTX cars out there but the chances of some one owning one and not knowing it are slim. There are a number of ways to tell but pics of the engine bay would be helpful. The crank sensor is the same for both engines but the water pumps are different on the STOCK versions of the 3.0 and 3.2.

The car has two accessory belts. I am unsure on the coil packs...I am out of town right now so I will check that when I get back.

Still could be a 3.2-swapped car with 3.0 accessories. Probably is a 3.0 though.

only way to tell form the outside is to look at the side of the block, they 3.0L and 3.2L blocks looked different but its hard to tell with it in the car.

Um.... I dont know, On my sho, 3.2 mtx I have two belts also, but to run a 5 spd you have to use the 3.0 accessory drive unless you want to modify the motor mounts. At least on my car.

Because the ATX didn't come about until 1993.

It is possible it as a 3.2 piston kit. You won't be able to tell that unless you pull the heads off.
