I am in the middle of replacing my clutch. When I went to put the subframe back onto the car, the rear two nuts that hold the subframe broke lose (I am thinking broken spot welds ? ) and now I cannot attach the rear locations. I have ordered the Aluminum SubFrame Bushings and Recall kits from ShoNut. Will the recall kits fix this or do I need to find another avenue to get this fixed ?

There was a recall on this...Under your carpet you will see two rubber plugs...That will give you access to the mounting plates....You can lift them right out...

I believe the recall only covered the earlier SHO`s.You`ll need to get a hole saw and drill into the floor. The recall kit you`ll get form Josh will give you detailed instructions as to where to drill. It will fix your problem.

Okay...which one is correct ? One says there is a plug there, the other says to drill a hole. I need to be ready when I get to my car. Its 87 miles away from my house. I am planning on getting the car back together and doing the subframe bushings another time. Since there was a shipping blunder that puts my delivery 3 days later than originally stated.

If the recall was done, then you would have two plugs in the floorpan above each of the rear mounts. If the recall wasn't done, you'll need to drill out a hole with a hole saw above the mounts. In either case, the recall kits should fix this for you.

The recall (#98S36) applied to '86-'95 Tauruses in ~25 states and some Canadian provinces (basically anywhere where salt is used on the roads).

The recall kit will include the instructions, but you will want to find a 2.5" hole saw compatible with sheet metal to bring with you for the repairs. You should also probably bring along a file to clean out the holes in the subframe so that the new bushings will go in smoothly.

FWIW, since you're getting the alum SFB's with the recall kits from Josh, you might as well at least do the rears while you're doing the recall kits. Shouldn't add but a couple of minutes to each side.

Here is a pic of my passenger side hole. Your nuts might have just slipped off of the foldover pieces of metal that hold the nut from moving.
