hi! Im a new SHO owner and i bought a not well running car. heres the problems.. can any of you identify the symptoms and tell me whats wrong?

First of all... every now and then the car starts just fine and runs like it was born to.. 3-5 minutes... then dies. After it dies it WILL not start again for the longest time... It cranks and cranks and cranks.. but doesnt fire.

I would have never bought it except that IT does fire and get running.. so i feel it can be repaired.

EGR and sensor was replaced. it DID have error 335 or whatever...
"EGR not opening responding.." then it had the "EGR Signal to low"

Would either of these cause the car to NOT Fire?

ok.. when the car is running now there is NO CODES.. just 111
and yet it just dies.

Various tests have been performed, ranging from but not only..

Assuring signal when key is in start position (mech said it was to make sure it was getting the "Start now command"
EEC checked,
ALL fuses checked.. in car and underhood.
Fuel filter checked, fuel pressure checked,
Everything else seems fine.

IS this possibly a Cam Position Sensor?
would that allow the car to crank but not fire?
I was told the car should run even if the EGR was shot... just run poorly.

Anyways.. it spent 2 days ar MIDAS and theyre stumped..
Tomorrow it goes to FORD dealership, can anyone provide me some useful ideas or advice?

Thanks Guys.

It's really hard to say what your problem is. Have you driven it at all? Is your DIS (the grey rectangular sensor on the passenger side of the intake) cracked at all? How many miles?

Crank Position Sensor is my guess. Before you go digging into the motor I would try a working DIS sensor just in case something is wrong there.

so... DIS sensor and Cam Position sensor?

then go nuts from there?
If its neither my bet is on the Crank sensor. Go over to shotimes.com and you can find a writeup on this.

You could save a butt load of $ doin it yourself. Neither sensors are difficult to change, and Ford will charge you double for the part itself (not to mention their labor).

I know this because I have done it both ways...and definately prefer the DIY.

If you bring it to FORD or any mechanic don’t tell them what to fix. Let them try and find it first. If you tell them what to fix then they will replace those parts and charge you for it even if that wasn’t the cause. If you tell them the symptoms they should be able to find the cause. If they cant then maybe make some suggestions.
