Timing marks on 3.2 cams line up with the belt but not the crank timing pulley marks on the block. Can anyone tell me what to do?

I was on my own on this one. Ok, the belt I got from NAPA was F'ked up as far as the marks go. I got the cams at TDC as well as the crank according to the marks on the block. The problem is that when I put the belt on the cams, the marks on the belt lined up but where it says 3.2 on the belt, that was 5 teeth over clockwise. If any of you get a belt that does this, disregard the marks on the belt and just set everything according to the engine. BTW, the cams are a BEEEEYYOOOTCH to get back to TDC!!

The procedure is to use the crank damper with the old timing belt still installed to get the cam pulley index marks to the 12 o'clock position. You can then remove the timing belt and damper and move the crank however you need before you realign its index marks before the new timing belt's installation.

Yes, that's the text book way of doing it BUT, The belt had stretched to the point when I tried to get one cam pulley at TDC the other one would be off just enough to jolt back when I took the belt off. All in all, the 60k was NOT a good time. squint
