I was driving home from work today slammed 2nd at about 4500RPM and POP and all I get now is neutral in every gear, no noise changes when I depress or release the clutch pedal and when I am stopped now with the e-brake on, car/engine on, I can go through all the gears while the clutch pedal itself is up in its return position similiar to what a normal running manual car could do if you were holding the pedal itself all the way down.

I haven't had a chance to look at it because I can't seem to find my flashlight but is there a chance I couldve just popped or snapped my clutch cable? Or would a blown mtx be this quiet? Because I remember last time I blew the original MTX at 177K it made a horrible noise and grinding in all gears with a nasty garble when trying to let the clutch pedal up to engage the gear.

Any opinions till I can check it out tommorrow?

Anything can happen, but my ATX did the same thing when it blew up on me!! I heard a loud slam/pop and whammo "Nothing". I could put the shifter through all the gears, and it was as if the engine was in neutral. Basically the engine was just revving no matter what gear I tried to shift into, as if I was not in drive at all. The transmission shop told me I blew the final drive in the tranny. Hope you're more fortunate than I was, but it doesn't sound promising from what you posted.

So the shifter feels normal and will go into all gears including reverse while the clutch pedal is released and the engine is running?
If so, i would say your clutch is quite literally gone....or you broke the input shaft on the transmission

Could have broke a CV joint too.
Yep :thumb: If its a broken cv joint then it would probably still grind in reverse when trying to engage gears while the clutch is out-thats another check you can do to try and pinpoint the problem

I just installed a SHO Nut 9-puck barly 11,000miles ago at 177K, now with 188K I have this problem with new ceramic TOB, SHO Nut F&R motor mounts, 8lbs Fidanza flywheel, if I blew the clutch with this little amount of miles this would seriously suck.

Only way to find this out is to take out the tranny huh? No other means?

well unless you broke a cv axle...you might want to peek at those first.

you just either blew a diff pin(check for fluid leaking) or just naded the pp or clutch linkage inside the tranny. Does the clucth pedal move/feel like normal or is harder to depress? or is it possible that you sheered off the rod shifter stabilzer bar bolt? Is all the gears in the same spot as normal or have they shifted?

First, put the car in 1st and let off the clutch. If its a halfshaft the speedo should move, otherwise I would say it is tranny related. Chances are if the tranny case is not "ventilated" your diff is still intact. Im guessing its a halfshaft though, good luck!

This is a bit of a long shot, but is it possible that you've broken the weld on the shifter bar at the transmission? That happened to me, although I was still able to get it into 1st, 3rd and 5th (lost the bottom of the pattern).

Just a thought.
