hi everyone

I live in Minnesota and the 90mtx is my only car, so this is a BIG problem.

This morning i was driving to work at about 25mph on a small residential street when the engine just killed. Electirical was fine, radio ect works. When I try to restart the car the starter goes but there is no engine turning over sound. The RPMs dont even move when i try to start it. It was on a slight hill so I also tried to push start it but that didnt do anything either.

It has 1/2 tank of gas.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

CPS sounds like. Engine cranks but doesn't start, no RPM. Have any trouble with your waterpump lately? That will **** a CPS. Do a search on CPS you will see others had the same symtoms. Including me. headbang

ok so got to mess with it a bit today (hate the snow)
fuel pump is turning on and still nothing after it sat over night except a dead battery from trying to start too many times.

I did read the CPS info, i just dont want to pay all that $$ if its not the CPS.

It really really sounds like a cps. The part is only around $35, and if you have access to some good tools you can do it yourself in a day.

Have you checked the codes? This will give more indication as to what's wrong, since it sounds electrical/ electronic related. See shotimes.com under 'maintenance' to see how to do this. Try it before you unplug the battery to charge it, I don't know if it will be accurate with a low charge though.

Good luck!

ok thanks I will check the codes

I thought that to get to the cps you had to go through all that water pump removal crazyness

I live in Minnesota and dont have a garage so I dont want to be doing this out in the driveway.

No, you don't have to remove the waterpump, but you do have to take off the timing belt, and the crank pulley. While you're in there you may want to do the waterpump, it really not bad once you have that all apart... beer

ok thanks again

i just checked the codes (man it sucks walking back and forth to where the car broke down, thankfully its only about 10 blocks)

the codes i got were 21 and 24
i looked 'em up on midwestsho and this is what i got
21 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range

24 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range

but i have no idea what these mean
sorry i am such a newbie, but thanks for the help

Neither of those codes indicate a problem, just that it is too cold (like you didn't know that).

See the other current "Dead SHO" thread for more troubleshooting ideas.
